The holiday season can be a difficult time, but some area agencies are aiming to alleviate some food and hunger-related hardship by offering special Christmas meals.
The Salvation Army (202 Callon Street, Wausau) offers a free meal Monday-Saturday from 11:30am to 12:15pm, except holidays. On Friday, December 15, the meal served will be a special Christmas meal.
Saint Paul’s United Church of Christ (426 Washington Street, Wausau) is offering a meal on Christmas Day at 12pm for anyone who would otherwise be alone that day. Meals are served at the church; carry-out meals are also available with advanced notice. Call (715) 845-2200 December 14-23 between 9am-6pm to reserve a carry-out meal.
The Wausau Eagle’s Club (1703 S 3rd Avenue, Wausau) also hosts a Christmas Dinner on Saturday, December 23 from 11am-1pm. This meal is open to the public, and offers deliveries to the Wausau-Schofield area. Call (715) 551-9215 December 21-22 between 8am-5pm to request a delivery.
Lastly, Covenant Community Presbyterian Church (1806 Weston Avenue, Schofield) also offers a traditional holiday meal on Christmas Day from 11am-1pm. The meal is open to all. Residents of the DC Everest area may call to request a delivery. Call (715) 359-6467 December 1-19 to request a delivery. Advance reservations for the meal at the church are requested, but not required.
