Many Marathon County community members utilize United Way’s 2-1-1 to find assistance programs around the holiday season. If you or someone you know is in need of help with holiday gifts or food, or is looking to donate to such programs, consider calling 2-1-1 to find local information.
If you or your family or friends are interested in signing up to receive children’s gifts for the holidays, note that some Marathon County programs have their registration periods during the month of October:
At The Neighbors’ Place (745 Scott Street, Wausau):
2017 registration will be held:
Friday, October 13, from 3-5pm
Saturday, October 14, from 12-2pm
Friday, October 20, from 3-5pm
Saturday, October 21, from 10am-12pm
2017 Gift distribution will be held Friday, December 15, from 3-6pm and Saturday, December 16, from 10am-12pm.
This program primarily serves those who access The Neighbors’ Place services, but is open to greater Wausau community members not being served by other agencies.
At The Salvation Army (202 Callon Street, Wausau):
2017 applications will be accepted on a first come, first-served basis on:
Tuesday and Wednesday, October 24-25, from 10am-3pm and Thursday, October 26, from 12:30-6:30pm.
Applicants are encouraged to register in person on these dates. Applications will be accepted after these dates by appointment only, based on availability.
2017 Christmas Assistance distribution will be held Tuesday, December 19, 9 a.m. – 7 p.m., by appointment.
