|Bundles of Joy
Bundles of Joy, a United Way project, distributes diapers and formula through area organizations serving struggling families in Marathon County.
The public face of the project is the gift wrap center in the Wausau Center Mall whose donations fund the project. The center is run by volunteers Thanksgiving through Christmas Eve. This annual community-wide project offers the opportunity to volunteer for a fun project and know that your efforts provide essential items for babies and toddlers.
Why is Bundles of Joy important?
When a family is out of food, they go to a food pantry. But where do they turn when they run out of diapers or formula? Bundles of Joy helps struggling families secure these high cost items.
What have we accomplished?
During the 2013 holiday season, volunteers logged 933 hours to wrap 6,006 packages over 26 days raising $7,110.81. View a summary of gift wrapping results including volunteer leaders.
Since the project began in 2007, Bundles of Joy has received over $64,092 in donations over seven seasons. Approximately 14,041 4-ounce bottles of formula and over 9,223 packages of diapers have been purchased and distributed.
Thanks are extended to our sponsors Ministry Health Care, Peoples State Bank and Wausau Center for providing all the gift wrapping supplies and mall space. Special thanks also to the B.A. & Esther Greenheck Foundation for grant funding to meet the growing needs for diapers and formula.
