Thank you to everyone who volunteered, donated and came out to enjoy the fun at CommUNITY Fest 2017. Because of you, the Marathon Park Expo Building was filled with happy, smiling faces, and food and cash donations to benefit the Marathon County Hunger Coalition. With your help, CommUNITY Fest 2017 total food donations came to 12,500 pounds, with cash donations of $3,000.
Plan to join us for this year’s CommUNITY Fest. The event includes United We Can, a food sculpture competition, free kids’ activities, music and photo ops with your favorite costumed characters and mascots. All free, family friendly activities are intermingled with the sculptures in the Expo Building. Help select the “People’s Choice” award winning sculpture by bringing a canned food item or cash. You’ll receive one vote per item or $1 donated. It’s a free, fun event that has something for everyone in the family.
Does your company, service club or non-profit organization want to be part of the fun? There are several ways for you to participate.
United We Can – create a team to build a food sculpture with non-perishable food and other basic needs items. It’s a great team building opportunity and all food items will help fill the shelves at local pantries. Check out some photos from past competitions, visit our Pinterest site for ideas, or watch a video from the event, including some time lapse videos of sculptures under construction.
*NEW THIS YEAR” – On the Spot Challenge – gather your most creative minds and build a sculpture “on the spot” from food items provided. All teams in each category will receive identical food items. See who can create the most unique sculpture with no pre-planning.
Kids’ Activities – local groups and companies provide everything from crafts and face painting to obstacle courses and games.
Big Trucks, Tractors & Trailers – does your company have a unique vehicle that would appeal to children? Bring it to CommUnity Fest and give kids the chance to get inside for an up close look.
Costumed Mascots – does your business, school or group have a mascot? We would love to have them join us for all or part of the day.
