HAVE YOU MET ALICE?
ALICE, an acronym for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed, represents the nearly 670,000 Wisconsin residents of all ages and races who get up each day to go to work, but who aren’t sure they will be able to put dinner on the table each night. ALICE is your child care worker, home health aide, store clerk, or food service employee – all workers essential to you and to our community’s success.
United Way’s across Wisconsin released the ALICE Report on September 14, 2016, to raise awareness about ALICE and the challenges so many of our friends and neighbors face. By working together, we can begin the conversations that lead to positive changes for ALICE and for our entire community.
On October 18, Charlene Mouille, United Way of Wisconsin, was in Wausau to share the findings of the report. Her presentation was followed by a panel discussin featuring Jeff Sargent, Executive Director, North Central Community Action Program; MaiGer Moua, United Way’s 2-1-1 Director/Housing and Homelessness Coalition staff; and Dave Eckmann, Executive Director of the Wausau Region Chamber of Commerce.
