United Way of Marathon County wants to remind all donors of a charitable deduction, of up to $300, is available for those who take the standard deduction.
With only 13 days left in 2020, many non-profits are still seeking donations for the year. A new deduction is available for those taxpayers who do not itemize their deductions. This is an “above the line” adjustment to income that will reduce a taxpayers’ s adjusted gross income and reduce their taxable income. To qualify, you would have to give a donation to a qualitied charity, like United Way of Marathon County. If you have already made a donation since January 1, that contribution counts toward the $300 cap.
