United Way of Marathon County and their Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) will participate in the National Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service.
Local volunteers will participate in activities for MLK 2021 Day of Service in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. About 35 volunteers will participate in three activities with safe and social distancing protocols in place.
RSVP members will pack Kindness Kits including; socks, hand sanitizers, facemasks, beef jerky and granola bars to distribute to the Warming Center.
Members will write Kindness Cards for residents in the Nursing Home and those in the Behavioral health areas at North Central Health Care Center. And volunteers will assemble food packs at Blessings in a Backpack. This program feeds school children who currently are fed during the week on the federally funded Free and Reduced Meal Program in the Wausau School District and DC Everest District and are at risk of going hungry on the weekends.
