Wausau, WI- United Way of Marathon County and the Marathon County Hunger Coalition would like to announce a successful 2021 Turkey Trot with more than1,550 runners and $53,000.00 raised.
This was the 12th Annual Turkey Trot, which originally began with an Eastbay employee planning committee in 2008. 100% of the proceeds benefit the Marathon County Hunger Coalition which distributed 3.6 million pounds of food across Marathon County in 2020.
The race took place on Thanksgiving morning when the temperatures dipped to 20 degrees and snowflakes fell, while families cheered on their loved ones. Volunteers, children, dogs, walkers, and fast runners participated in this family-friendly run.
“It was a fantastic morning to be with people,” said Ben Lee, Impact Director for United Way. “We are so grateful to keep this annual tradition going and ultimately help people living in Marathon County.”
The Marathon County Hunger Coalition partners with 17 food pantries, 7 local grocers, and numerous community partners to ensure food is widely distributed in Marathon County.
