Who is MaiGer?

MaiGer Moua is an academic advisor at Northcentral Technical College, helping students to achieve their goals.  Eager to fulfill her passion for a deeper understanding of Hmong history, she completed her master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in History with a focus on Asian American and Hmong American history.  In 2022 she was recognized as a Mosaic of Northcentral WI/YWCA Women of Vision and, in 2015, was a 20 Under Forty award honoree.

Why United Way?

It truly is a privilege to serve on the United Way Board of Directors.  Growing up low income my family had to stretch every dollar and with the help received from programs supported by United Way my parents were able to ensure our basic needs were met.  When I moved back to Wausau I landed a position at United Way that allowed me to continue to give back and serve the community.  I have been fortunate to have been given the opportunity to continue my support of the organization through service on the board and as a Summit League donor.
